All my fellow contest participants! This is for all the
Ambatchdotcom Contest entrants. I am developing a SeoContest 12 Step
program for those of you, who are like me, afflicted with ASOCD
(ambatchdotcom seocontest obsessive compulsive disorder).

I love to mix things up, rearrange the furniture, change my hair, do
things a little on the dangerous side. Maybe it's the adrenaline rush
you get from being on edge. Maybe it's the shock value - don't know.
Don't really care to analyise on this particular occasion (although it
is one of my favorite passtimes!)

In this case I'm planning a big change to this site in hopes of knocking Age Magician out of the number 1 spot.

I
know what I want to do - I'm working on the implimentation and I could
do it tonight if I wanted to but the timing is getting me a little
anxious.

This Ambatchdotcom Seocontest Contest entry is doing well. Number 2 and that ain't too shabby! (I never say ain't - not sure why I am now!)

The
question is timing. If I do it now and I'm wrong and drop off the
rankings then I still have time to correct my error and climb up again
before the end of this round.

great - but what if it's only a temporary boost that lasts a few
days??? (Then I've wasted the effort as far as boosting my position -
in other words, I could save it until near contest end or for if I drop
out of the top 3)

Of course, I could be totally wrong about my
plan and it could have absoloutly no effect whatsoever and all this
anxiety could be for nothing.

The only thing I know for sure - Pay attention Age Magician (I know you're reading) you can't do it!

Well,
I'll go back to planning and thinking - and maybe a little more
research to see if the SEO community has anything to say about my ideas.

I've got time... I've got all the way to October if I want to wait that long. But patience isn't one of my virtues.

Maybe it's just me but the last couple of days have seemed a little slow in ambatchdotcom seocontest

Well, the glory was short lived. I don't think my first place position for ambatchdotcom seocontest
even lasted a whole 24 hours before Age Magician's entry slid back into
the number 1 spot and bumped me back into second position.

So,
given that I seem to be "this close" to geting the top spot, I made a
few changes and we will see in a few days if they have been positive or
if they have a negative impact on the rankings.

entry in number 3. Not a giant shake up in the top 3 spots but I'll
take it.

At last check Amit Patel's
entry has overtaken mine in 2nd place - at least in a few of the data
centres - This may be the price I pay for taking a few days off, or
maybe, Amit's backlinks are catching up to me.

So, back to it.

It
was interesting that Kelvin felt 'inspired' by my words on the SEO
contest. I didn't think I said anything that was so brilliant. Then
again, I do feel there is a bit of a language barrier there. Surely
Kelvin speaks/writes better English than I do any other language but
sometimes I think the words chosen are not exactly what he meant.

Age Magician feels that what he lacks in eloquent speech, he makes up for in his SEO expertise.

I'm
not convinced that at this point the google results are completely
relevant to SEO knowledge. At least not as much as it will at the ambatchdotcom seocontest end.

For the past several days I've been working on a little on site SEO and cosmetics.

I
know that what the site looks like has NO bearing on SEO but as a
designer, it goes against the grain for me to have a site that looks
bad. In addition, If I intend to use this site as a showcase of my SEO
abilities, my clients will want to see a nice looking site.

I do
have some plans for a giant change in one of my entries toward the end
of this month. I will test a theory about a week before the end of the
month and see what happens to my SERP results - if my test has positive
results then I will use the same technique on this site.

The
other thing on my to-do list is to do an "About Me" page so keep an eye
out for that. It will include a picture as well as other dull and
uninteresting facts about me.

I don't seem to share the beliefs of Kelvin and Age Magician that people "want to learn more" about me.

I
was curious about some of the other contestants but mostly just
interested in their age, location and sex. And that's only because I
feel that I am somewhat of a deviant from the average webmaster - more
about that in the 'about me' page which is yet to be built.

I
took a couple of days off after the announcement of the 3 winners of
the first round. This entry was, and is ranking #2 in Google but since
at the time of this posting, everyone that cares already knows about
it, it's rather a nothing announcement

Now
that I've had a few days to recharge my batteries I'm ready to get back
at it at full force - It's nice to know that I've maintained my ranking
without doing anything for a few days as well.

But this is no time to rest on my laurels. There's work to be done and a to-do list to complete.

Considering
my main internet business is logo design, you'd think I'd have a good
logo wouldn't you? Sigh. Nope. Maybe it's like interior decorators and

picture - that's another story. Ask me for a picture of my kids and I'd
have thousands to choose from. Me, I'm camera shy! I hate having my

Well there is just more than 24 hours to go until the first round is
decided. I'm dissapointed that my most recent check of the google data
centers show that while there were 4-6 showing this site in the number
1 position, they are all now showing Age Magician's entry in the number
1 spot and this entry in 2nd place.

Nothing to sneeze at really. I mean who can really complain about
having the second position out of 292000 results? I was however hoping
to inch in there to the first spot! There's always next month!

I'm thinking about this long term too. We're only 2 weeks into the
ambatchdotcom seocontest contest and I'm starting to have dreams about
it! That's scary and goes to show that I might be obsessing a little
too much on this. After all, I do have a life. A family, a regular job,
my web and logo design buisness, and several other websites.... all of
which are suffering a little due to my involvement in this contest. I
'almost' wish I wasn't sitting in the top 10! Ok, no, I'm not really
wishing that - but I do wonder if maybe the top 5 isn't making me
obsess about this more. I certainly don't put nearly as much effort
into the other contest entries I have as I do this one!

Maybe after tomorrow I'll relax about it a little as it will be
