Ambatchdotcom Seocontest 2nd Round - I Can't Watch!

There wont be any SEO or Ambatcdotcom Seocontest - ing this weekend for my ambatchdotcom entry. 15.5 hours before the end of the second round and I will be sitting by the campfire toasting marshmellows with my kids instead of hitting refresh on the google search.

However, because I don't think I could stand not knowing until Sunday - I'll have my husband check the results and call me on the cell phone - if it works there!

So, to all the seo contest contestants, good luck in round two. I suspect that there is a shakeup coming to the top 10. Will it happen tonight? No one knows. It's a good weekend for a shake up - the last long weekend of the summer, labor day, back to school on tuesday and last night, the temperature in my neck of the woods dropped to single digits - oh, and google backlinks are updating!

At digitalpoint I found a thread talking about one (at least) data center that is updating so I checked http://64.233.187.104 for backlinks on this site and found that yes, google is updating backlinks.

So I'm checking across the datacentres to see if this has spread and I see that the results are in 9 of the centers - at least 1 in each of 6 c blocks. (those results were not the same the second time I looked - more google dancing!)

What will this mean to our contest? If Backlinks are the key to getting a high position then things should change in drastic measures. Of course, I have not checked the quality of the backlinks but based on numbers alone, and not counting the backlinks that those not in the top 10 might have, our new top three would look something like this...

There really is a purpose to making regular backups of your ambatchdotcom seocontest site!

4 Days from the second round end of the SEO contest and yet another glitch in the blog software.

All I did was create a new entry and make a change to the display properties and ZAP! It was all gone. The software lost all the settings, including the database and was starting a new installation. That was 9 hours ago.

I think I've got all my ambatchdotcom-seocontest content back now thanks to Google Cache and cut and paste but I wont know for a few days if this has had any disaterous effects.

Update of the Top 10 Ambatchdotcom Seocontest entries August 23, 2006

Aside from Age Magician losing his top spot to Extreme once again, there's nothing exciting happening in the SEO contest today in the data centers I checked. However, Digital Point's keyword tracker tool had me scratching my head. It shows the number 7 entry, viralinstigator, dropping right out to position 135 and the workboxers entry in #7 position! The other interesting thing digital point showed was www. mes - seomaster . com / ambatchdotcom - seocontest . php gone altogether but the ones I've been using show this entry in the number 12 position. Have to wonder about the data centre that digital point uses!
